    Copper-engraved map for Samuel Bochart, Geographia Sacra, in his Opera Omnia, Leiden, 1692.  (Bochart (1599-1667) was a French scholar who studies were mainly biblical and linguistic.)  Image 284 x 194 mm., sheet about 360 x 230 mm.  Later hand-colouring.  Note that this map presents with east at the top.  The Bsetis (Guadalquivir)  River runs past Corduba (Cordova) and into the Mediterranean at the old region of Tartessos.  Suel is now Malaga.

    William Faden (1749-1836) was an important English cartographer and map-publisher of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, noted for the accuracy of his maps.  He was appointed Geographer to George III in 1783.
